Assure Safety Pte Ltd intends to offer training for premises owners and operators who generate food waste and food services and kitchen staffs in the food services sector.
Employers must ensure that their Singapore citizen and PR food services workers meet the food services Progressive Wage Model (PWM) training requirements of attaining at least 2 Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) Statement of Attainment, out of the list of approved WSQ training modules.
Employers will be given a grace period to comply with the food services PWM training requirements:
• For new hires: six months from the new hire’s date of employment
• For existing employees: up till 29 February 2024 (one year from the food services PWM implementation on 1 March 2023)
Through proper training for Food Waste Disposal and Reduction (Level 2), premises owners, operators who generate food waste and food services workers will be able to dispose food waste according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

What learners are able to do before training?
1. Not knowing what are the types of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food waste disposal.
2. Not knowing what the signs of equipment faults are, leading to sub-quality food.
3. Not able to operate equipment for processing food waste.
4. Not knowing how to categorize food preparation states and choosing the appropriate disposal method.
5. Not know what the preventive measures are to avoid cross-contamination and causes of food spoilage.
6. Not knowing what the importance of recycling and eco-friendly features in food waste management are.
What learners are able to do after training?
LO1: Learners will be able to identify and apply the SOPs for effective food waste disposal.
LO2: Learner will be able to identify signs of equipment faults leading to sub-quality food.
LO3: Learners will efficiently operate equipment for processing food waste.
LO4: Learners will categorize food preparation states and apply appropriate disposal methods.
LO5: Learners will implement preventive measures to avoid cross-contamination and identify causes of food spoilage.
LO6: Learners will be able to identify the importance of recycling and eco-friendly features in food waste management
This course on Food Waste Disposal and Reduction is suitable for anyone in various sectors, including environmental sustainability, food service, waste management, supply chain, and public health, who aim to minimize food waste.
Able to understand, read and write in basic English.
Individuals who have at least 3 months of work experience in the food service industry, particularly as a food handler, or have completed a similar module such as a workplace safety & health for food & beverage operation course in Singapore, are eligible to enroll in this assessment-only pathway (AOP) module.
This AOP module exclusively consists of assessment.
Ineligible participants may choose to enroll in Food Waste Disposal and Reduction (Level 2) module, which includes both training and assessment.
Additionally, individuals interested in a basic food service course or are keen to fulfill PWM training requirements can explore relevant training options.
